Yes, I'm getting all harpy on making extra money again. I just cannot help sharing all the great ways of earning extra income that work for us.
Going into Fall and Winter is the most expensive time of year for us. We have a winter's worth of propane to purchase (which to our great disappointment, is much more costly than natural gas:( tires for George's truck, home and auto insurance, taxes on two homes, etc. We set money aside throughout the year to pay for these larger bills as they come due. It is very easy to use up all of this set aside money and technically, that is what it is there for.
With George being self employed, we need to be extra cautious in our planning and develop a larger than average nest egg for emergencies and for future business expansions. One way we do this is by trying to earn extra money to pay for these bills. We then ad the money we initially set aside to our nest egg fund. It doesn't take much extra work, and really, for us, we look at it as a real challenge and we pull together to encourage each other.
I am always happy to share things we find to be helpful in earning extra money. To that end I would like to encourage my readers to take a look at Cash Crate.
Let me be the first to say Cash Crate is NOT a get rich quick deal, nor are any of the ideas I share. But you can make a fair amount of extra money. I look at is a way to fairly quickly earn enough each month to pay one of your smaller bills, garbage, perhaps? Or, to treat your family to a nice meal out, or a fun time ice skating, a special celebration dinner at home, buy a few Christmas presents, etc.
Cash Crate is a website that has a few different ways to earn money. You can complete surveys and offers. Most things like the surveys are free to do, plus they pay you. They have plenty of offers to complete that pay very well. Many of these offers are free trials for a certain period of time, just make sure to note when the free trial expires and cancel. I tend to do more of these as they pay very well for a very small amount of time spent.
For example, right now you can earn $13.50 for signing up for a free trial with Net Flicks. Getting paid to try out having free, wholesome dvds of my choice delivered to my home? Oh, my! Sign me up:) We've been wanting to sign up for Stamps.com for a long time and now, I can get PAID $13.50 to try it out? I can also get paid $11 or $12 to buy an ink cartridge I need anyway?
Try it out, I've been very pleased by the few hundred dollars I've made. Click here if you would like to read about other ways George & I earn a little extra money.

Hi Nanniereese!
Thank you for the lovely compliment. I get such joy out of sharing with others in the hope that it will be of help.
In turn, I've learned so much from my readers about all sorts of topics. Thank you, all.
Trixie
Thanks for sharing.
Trixie-
Hi there! Thanks for the info about Cash Crate--it's nice to know how to make a few extra bucks!! I'm always looking for ways to save, too. I wanted to ask you though, are you ever concerned with giving out email, credit cardi info, personal info, etc? I feel leery sometimes giving out so much information about me and my family.
Thanks,
Kelli
Hi Kelli,
Great question!
I've thought twice about giving out personal information over the net.
Regarding my name and address: this info is everywhere, including in the phone book and all public records so I'm less hesitant about sharing this.
The email address: to reduce spam, I have a special email address used for all internet transactions that have the possibility of generating spam.
Credit Card *CRUCIAL* I use one card for all internet purchases and free trials. I have identity theft protection so I am not liable for fraudulent charges.
If you are worried about getting taken with the free trials where you give your credit card info, don't. You have the right to notify your card company of any discrepencys and the company WILL refund your money. Of course, include appropriate documentation.
I've been handling internet transactions, financial and otherwise over the internet for 10 years and have been very blessed to have not had any serious issues.
Take Care,
Trixie
We are a 1 income family, so anything I can do to bring in extra $$ is worth looking into! Thanks!
Hmmmm, I will have to give this website a look, thanks!
I found your site today via WFMW. I'm so glad I did! I ended up reading a ton of your past posts and I really enjoy your outlook. Well done.
Trixie,
Looks like you can get a little bonus if you refer me. Their sign up didn't include anywhere for me to say who referred me. Will they know it was you through my clicking? If not, is there another link you want to post so that you'll get credit for others who start out through you?
Hi Leia,
Yes, in theory, I get a small bonus for referring you. I am not sure exactly how this works because this is the first time I've mentioned on my blog and acutally had anybody sign up through a link.
I've always just told people to look up cashcrate.com on their own.
The link is supposed to have some numbers after the .com part. I just checked my link and it doesn't.
Oh well, don't worry about it.(But thank you for thinking of me:) I am just sharing the info about cash crate to help other ladies earn a little spare cash.
Blessings,
Trixie
Thanks for the great tips, lots of us can sure use them. I was reading through your site and saw that you prepare income taxes. I'm curious to learn more about how you have this set up.
